Gymnasts Hold Their Own At Club’s Largest Event To Date

Last Sunday saw Inverness Gymnastics Club host their annual Highland Floor and Vault competition with the largest entry to date. Recent support from cdmm (UK) Ltd, NB Civil Engineering and Innes and MacKay Solicitors has allowed the club to grow the capacity of the event and also the visibility of the competition within the Scottish Gymnastics calendar.


Over 450 gymnasts from 15 clubs across Scotland took part in the full day event at Inverness Leisure, with the host club achieving a haul of medals in front of a 600 strong crowd.


Highlights for the home team included high scoring performances on floor from Mya Walsh, Grace Price, Lauren Kerr and Ben Sharpe, as well as high scoring vaults from Rowen Anderson and Joe Dickinson.

Girls:

8/9 Beginner - Emily Renton floor gold and team gold with Eilidh Cummins, Evie Lonnen, Lyla Bain and Alycia Mackay.


10/11 Beginner - Mya Walsh floor silver, overall gold, and team silver with Tia McCartney, Mia Orr, Sophie Morrison.


12+ Beginner - Leah Callander floor bronze, and team bronze with Sophie Barrie and Rhea Crawford.


10/11 intermediate team silver - Chantelle Cooper, Mirren Stewart, Lucy Ferguson, Ella McArthur, Sophie Jones.


12+ Intermediate - Erin Marshall vault silver and Beth Mackenzie-Grant and Ellen Lindsay vault bronze, Sarah MacDonald floor bronze, and team bronze with Charlotte Douglas, Isla Redpath, Seona MacBean and Jessica Guthrie.


Under 12 Advanced - Grace Price vault silver, floor silver, and overall gold, as well as team gold with Leah Leslie and Grace Brown. Leah Leslie floor bronze. Catriona Cummins overall bronze, and team silver with Eve Matheson and Leona Watson. Eve Matheson vault bronze.


Over 12 Advanced - Lauren Kerr floor gold and overall gold. Hannah Munro vault silver and Cody Crawford vault bronze. Both girls along with Rosie Flegg won team gold.


Boys:

10/11 Beginner - Killian Griffin floor silver and overall bronze. Oliver MacIntyre vault silver. Both along with Jay Darroch and Calum MacRae winning team gold.


10/11 Intermediate - Jack Finnigan gold on floor, vault and overall.


12+ Beginner - Adam Watkins gold on floor, vault, and overall


12+ Intermediate – Rowen Anderson floor silver, vault gold and overall gold. Ben Sharpe floor gold, vault bronze, and overall silver. Josh Talbot-Heigh floor bronze and overall. Joe Dickinson vault silver.
