IGC shine at Gymfest 2017

There are a few events in the IGC calendar that really demonstrate the club ethos and the fantastic dedication of our coaches and volunteers. Scottish Gymfest is one of them.

Taking part with a team of 50 gymnasts, their parents, families, our coaches and our committee members requires a fairly substantial operation at the best of time. Having moved the event from Irvine where we had 11 years of practice, to Aberdeen for this first year this weekend, the pressure was on IGC to make sure everyone was fed, watered and accommodated to the same exacting standards - and that they did.

A huge thank you is due to all our parent helpers, coaches and committee members who assisted in ensuring everyone was at the right place at the right time, that lunch was bought, prepared and served, and that all the tasks in the leading weeks were undertaken... outfits, pizzas, parent meetings... and many more.

However, the most important part of the weekend, was the Gymnasts. IGC had, as it always does, one of the largest teams on the floor performing over the weekend. Despite seeing the routine in rehearsals, the coaches and parents were blown away by the quality of performance this weekend... and this is where the biggest thanks are due. Thank you to the gymnasts for their commitment to training over the last 6 months, and thank you for compromising Friday evening plans to make sure you know your place, the routines, the balances. Thanks also for putting up with the changes, the feedback (and the dresses), but most of all thank you to each of the 50 of you for your behaviour and attitude over the weekend. We have received numerous comments from parents, the hotel, the first aiders and Scottish Gymnasts on the polite manner and behaviour of our team, as well, of course, as the quality of our routines... for the coaches and the parents involved - this is the highlight of the weekend.

Well done everyone. #TeamIGC
