With 37 girls entered into the Scottish Beginner and intermediate floor and vault competition last month, Inverness Gymnastics Club shone with placings in every category amongst tough competition from across Scotland. For half our entrants this was their first experience competing at this level and they rose to the challenge.
Our 12+ Beginner team (Isla Redpath, Hannah Kerr, Chanelle Bray and Sarah MacDonald) excelled to win their category with Redpath taking gold for vault, 4th on floor and silver overall. Kerr won silver on floor and placed 4th overall while Bray was 3rd on vault and MacDonald placed 5th overall.
Also in the 12+ beginners Sophie Kerr and Leah Callendar placed 5th on floor and in the team competition alongside Isla Kelly. In the Intermediate category our 12+ team placed 4th (Rosie Flegg, Lauren Kerr, Beth Mackenzie-Grant, Hannah Munro and Eiilidh Pirie) with Flegg placing 4th on floor and 5th overall.
Our younger teams encouraged each other throughout the day with the 8 years Beginner team in 6th (Olivia Kerr, Emily Renton, Lyla Bain, Alycia Mackay and Erin Mullen), 9 years Beginner team third (Paige Callendar, Eilidh Cummins and Evie Lonnen) and 10/11 Beginners in 5th (Tia McCartney, Eilidh Kerr, Lucy Ferguson, Ella MacArthur and Mya Walsh).
Indiviidually, Callendar was 3rd on floor. In the younger categories' intermediate section Mirren Stewart placed 6th on floor and Chantelle Cooper took 6th on Vault for 10/11s. In the 9 year old category, Grace Price took silver overall, silver on vault and 4th on floor.
